The CCIP Recognition Ceremony is held annually to recognize those individuals and organizations that have contributed to this meaningful cultural exchange initiative. This activity has garnered many compliments and much appreciation from the public every year and has been a staple reflecting the growth of the Cross Cultural Internship Program since 2008.

That night, exchange visitors, host organizations, friends, partners, government officials, community leaders, and media representatives gather to celebrate their collective efforts of working toward a global community.

Through the event, FUSIA, the designated visa sponsor, recognizes the accomplishments of the parties that have worked together to create a lasting impact through the US Department of State's Exchange Visitor Program. It also celebrates endeavors that embody a spirit of cooperation, hard work, and cultural exchange.


CCIP Recognition Ceremony at Citi Field

The 2016 CCIP Recognition Ceremony was held at Citi Field, home of the Mets, on July 5th with over 140 guests in attendance.

The event, entitled "Culture Exchange Event," celebrated the joint efforts of the greater New York City community and students from Asia and Pacific nations to promote cultural exchange through the CCIP.

To recognize the efforts of all the participants in this cross cultural initiative, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer declared July 5, 2016 "Cross-Cultural Internship Appreciation Day".

Government officials attended the event to show their support and honor the achievements of the program:

- NYS Senator Toby Ann Stavisky
- NYS Assemblyman David Weprin
- NYC Councilman Peter Koo
- China Consul Chang Quansheng
- Singapore Consul Eugene Ng
- Kevin H. Crowley from the US Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs

Various government offices also presented greeting letters or commendations to recognize the efforts of the involved parties as well as the achievements of the program in its cultural endeavors:

- US Senator for New York, Senator Charles Schumer
- US Senator for New York, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
- Congresswoman Grace Meng, whose office is also one of the internship host organizations
- Congressman Joseph Crowley
- NYS Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, whose office is also one of the internship host organizations
- NYS Assemblyman Ron Kim, whose office is also one of the internship host organizations
- NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio
- NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer
- NYC Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer
- NYC Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams
- Public Advocate for the City of New York Letitia James
- NYC Councilman Rory Lancman

Mr. Gene Eng (GC Eng & Associates, PC) and Ms. Jolander Headley (Joe's Music Center & Performing Arts Inc.), both program hosts, shared how having the J-1 interns from the Exchange Visitor Program enriched their respective offices.

The event also honored supporters from the community. Honored guests included:

- NYPD Community Affairs for giving safety talks to the exchange visitors
- TD Bank Downtown Flushing Branch for helping students open bank account
- The Flushing YMCA for providing lodging
- Friends of Cunningham Park for facilitating volunteer and community outing experiences

Also in attendance were three former CCIP participants and recent graduates who shared how the program benefitted them.

The 2015 CCIP Recognition Ceremony was held at Citi Field, home of the Mets, on July 10th with over 140 guests in attendance.

Government officials in attendance included:

- NYC Councilman Peter Koo
- Assemblyman Ron Kim, who also represents one of the internship host organizations
- China Consul Chang Quansheng
- Singapore Consul Eugene Ng (Ng Chang Yang, Eugene)

Various government offices also presented greeting letters or commendations recognizing the involved parties' efforts and achievements of the program in its cultural endeavors:

- US Senator for New York, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand

Mr. Shaun Belle, representing Genesis Realty Group LLC, and Mr. Andrew Yu, representing Yu & Associates, two of the program's host organizations, took the stage to describe the positive experience of collaborating with the program and its participants.

The 2014 CCIP Recognition Ceremony was held at Citi Field, home of the Mets, on July 8th with over 130 guests in attendance.

Students, government representatives, university partners, and host representatives, came together to celebrate the joint efforts of the greater New York City community and students from Asia to promote cultural exchange through the Exchange Visitor Program.

Students, government representatives, university partners, and host representatives, came together to celebrate the joint efforts of the greater New York City community members and students from Asia to promote cultural exchange through the Exchange Visitor Program.

Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer declared August 26, 2013 as "Cross Cultural Internship Program Appreciation Day" in the Borough of Manhattan, speaking highly of the program and stating that the program has provided an excellent platform for cultural exchange that has brought an undeniably positive energy to the whole city of New York.

CCIP Recognition Ceremony at South Street Seaport

Held at South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan on August 15, the annual Recognition Ceremony began with Marc A. Haken, President of the Friends of Cunningham Park, Inc. and an honorary advisor to the program, kicking off the evening with a greeting.

Sergey Kadinsky, a representative from Assemblyman Rory Lancman’s Office, followed, thanking and praising the students, and delivering a speech in support of the program.

Assemblyman David I. Weprin and Consul Yuin-Lyn Ng from the Singapore Consulate also came to the ceremony and delivered speeches.

CCIP Recognition Ceremony at New York City Surrogate's Court

On August 16, CCIP held its 2011 Recognition Ceremony at the New York City Surrogate's Court.

Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer declared August 16, 2011 as "Cross-Cultural Internship Day" in Manhattan, commending the program's efforts and stating that the program has provided an excellent platform for cultural exchange that has brought an undeniably positive energy to the whole city of New York.

CCIP Recognition Ceremony at the Cornell Club

CCIP successfully hosted the Recognition Ceremony at the Cornell Club in Midtown Manhattan. Zamruni Khalid, Malaysia Consul; Samuel Pierre, Brooklyn Borough Director; Byron Lee, Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council; and Raymond Yeung of the Chinese University Alumni Association attended the reception to show their support.

Brooklyn Borough Director Pierre spoke on behalf of the New York City Mayor's Office, praising the program's efforts towards immersing Asian students into a whole new culture.

Yeung, representing the Chinese University Alumni Association, expressed admiration for the students' video shown at the ceremony. He praised the program for providing Chinese university students a meaningful overseas internship.

East Meets West in Harlem - Business and Cultural Exchange

The very first "East Meets West" Business and Cultural Exchange ceremony hosted by CCIP was a resounding success, bringing together over one hundred members from the Harlem and Asian business communities on the evening of August 23, 2009. The event presented a wide range of entertainment, including a guest appearance by the much beloved late actor/performer Lou Myers, famed for the hit sitcom, A Different World.

The Business and Cultural Exchange event evolved into the CCIP Recognition Ceremony, an annual event held to recognize those individuals and organizations that have contributed to this meaningful cultural exchange initiative. This activity has garnered much praise and appreciation from the public every year and has been a staple of the program, reflecting the growth of the Cross Cultural Internship Program since 2008.
